Uplift Desk

I’m back and I started a YouTube channel! For my first video, I shared my initial thoughts on my new sit/stand desk from The Human Solution.

I wanted to touch on one thing I didn’t mention in the video: customer service. I contacted The Human Solution via chat a few times with questions regarding certain parts. They were very responsive and answered my questions quickly. I sent a message after business hours, and they responded first thing in the morning. In fact, I ordered my desk in the evening with some custom requests. They called me the next morning to verify and started production on my desk. Later that day I got another call. They had a truck heading to Houston, and would I mind having my desk delivered the next day. I ordered my desk on Wednesday evening and had the desk setup by Friday evening! I had a good feeling when I saw the company is based in Austin, Texas. Can’t beat local.

^ Random video of my dachshund, Titus, going down the stairs in slow motion. Those short little legs and floppy ears…

Feeling: Good. The weather has finally started to cool down and business is picking up. After living through insane heat and humidity, I’m looking forward to the mild fall and winter weather.

Best Links: Kanye vs Freddie, Dolphins, and a Polaroid Mobile Printer

Funny// A Lot Of People Are Enjoying This Comparison Of Kanye West And Freddie Mercury’s Singing After Kanye proclaimed that he is “the greatest living rock star on the planet,” the rest of the world let out a collective ‘ugh’ accompanied by a fierce eye roll. I love Queen and Kanye is not even in the same building, let alone on the same level, as Freddie Mercury. I can’t sing, but I swear I sound better than Kanye singing “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

Video taken by my husband

Music // I was pleasantly surprised last Thursday when I received an email from LiveNation. I was the runner-up for the Wiz Khalifa Experience Sweepstakes. I immediately replied and became the grand prize winner gaining backstage access! It was actually my first concert experience here in Houston. I have had a few opportunities to meet bands, but it was usually just a quick hello and then a picture with the group. Being backstage was a wild experience, and one I’m sure I’ll remember for a long time. One of the coolest things was being able to look out at the packed crowd dancing and having an awesome time.

Real Time Photoshop

BOGGIE – NOUVEAU PARFUM (official music video) from THE SOUP on Vimeo.

Interesting video showing a real time transformation with the aid of Photoshop. Lately there has been a lot of companies and celebrities coming forward about the overuse of retouching/Photoshop. As a photographer and marketing professional, I can understand the desire to have the most perfect representation of a model in advertising. However, it is undeniable the effect all the unrealistic imagery, advertising, and television has on young women and men. Hell, I’m closer to 30 than 20 and it still gives me pause. I think the answer lies in the middle ground. Brighten colors, remove a zit, but don’t make someone completely disproportionate. What are your thoughts on the use of heavy retouching in the advertising world?

War Eagle & Happy Holidays

It has been a wild season for the Auburn Tigers, and I’ve loved every minute! A few games came down to the wire and definitely had my blood pressure up. With that said, I couldn’t be more proud of the team and the progress they’ve made this year. After last season, I honestly would have been happy with a few SEC wins. Well, the tigers managed that and much more. Iron Bowl victory, SEC Champions, and now heading to California for the big tamale on January 6th.

The video starts with the announcer in the last few seconds of the Auburn-Alabama game and then really picks once the marching band starts playing the victory song. War Eagle and Merry Christmas!

You can read more about this on the AJC or visit the Burton family’s website to see more of their Christmas light shows.
