Day 11/Naples, Italy

aka The Great Pompeii Adventure

Naples_Italy_003[Day ten was our second and last day at sea.]

My new husband and I arrive in Naples, Italy on a bright, beautiful day. We see several people hopping into taxes, but we figure we’ll try the subway. We’re worldly people. We can handle public transportation. The plan is to take the subway to the main train station. Then we’ll hop on a train and head to Pompeii.  At the end of the docks is a map of the surrounding area. After regarding the the map we take off in the direction of the subway. No wait, it’s that way. No, it’s definitely this way. We walk past the sign roughly one hundred times. Finally heading in the, for sure, right direction, we’re on our way. We got this!

Joby GorillaPod Review

I received the Joby GorillaPod SLR-Zoom Tripod as a gift before my honeymoon. What sets the GorillaPod apart is its flexible legs. My intent was to use it to setup shots of myself and my husband on our Mediterranean adventure. While I kept it on my camera backpack for a portion of the trip, I don’t recall ever actually using it successfully.

Day 8/Santorini, Greece

(Or The Day An Ass Pooped on My Husband)

Day 7 we arrived in Rhodes, Greece. After walking around in the picturesque town for about an hour, we returned to the ship to spend the rest of the day sipping drinks by the pool.

housesThe next day our boat was tendered off the coast of Santorini, Greece. The port does not accommodate large vessels, and our ship was ginormous. The company shuttled us back and forth on smaller boats to get to the island. Santorini is basically an island formed by leftovers from a massive volcanic explosion. The result is absolutely gorgeous. Santorini was hands down my favorite stop and one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been so this is going to be a long post.

How I Use Evernote

So unless you’ve been living in a pineapple under the sea, you’ve heard about Evernote. Since it’s such a flexible tool I thought I’d share how I use it. I signed up a long time ago but only used it for a short time and lost interest. However, when it came time to plan my wedding, Evernote became my life line to sanity. Overtime they have added a number of apps and tools, but I like to keep it simple.

Music // Turn Down for What – DJ Slacker and Lil Jon. Ok, so this isn’t exactly a song reflecting the trials and triumphs of the human experience in 2014, but it makes for  good mindless danceable summer jam. (Although Heidi Klum saying “Turn Down for What” in the Project Runway commercial may have officially killed this song forever.) In a previous post I shared a video of some kittens dancing to this song followed by an explanation of what “turning down” means. I normally post the video for the featured song, but the video for this song is pretty crude. I found it hilarious and a nice change from the normal ladies-in-underwear-shaking-butts rap videos, but it’s definitely not for everyone.
